Choquequirao , is a lost city where the Incas took refuge from 1536. Located in the Valley of Vilcabamba – The convention rain forest to 3300 m.s.n.m. This archaeological site is considered as important as Machu Picchu. The journey begins in Cusco . After 145 Km . Of paved road and 10 unpaved road leads to the village Cachora , where born the path of 32 km . Surrounded by breathtaking scenery , in the route we can also appreciate the deepest flora and fauna of the Apurimac Canyon World until you reach the ” Cradle of Gold ” of the Incas.
Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Cachora – Chiquispa
We start from Cusco at 6:00 A. m to the town of Cachora (3100 m.s.n.m ) at 10:00 approx. Here we find the horses and wranglers and is at this point where we begin our trek by a sloping path , on the way our first glimpses of the Padrayoc ( 5,482m ) and Wayna Cachora snow in the tour we will have a short break in the passage of Capuliyoc ( 2900 m ) from which you have a panoramic view of the valley of Apurimac, then descend appreciating the beautiful landscape of warm weather to reach Chiquisqa (1930 masl) here we will have our first camp. (Lunch and dinner ) .
Day 2: Chiquisca – Playa Rosalina – Sunchupata
After breakfast (5:00 AM) , we will continue our walk towards Playa Rosalina ( 1550m ) , then up the hill towards Santa Rosa ( 2100 masl) where our lunch , this trip is the hardest then ascend to Maranpata ( 2850 m) , is a gentle climb , during this trip you could see all the way to the first day and vegetation that exists in this place then go along a straight stretch direction of Sunchupata , here we will have our dinner and camp ; From this point it is an hour to Choquequirao . (Breakfast, lunch and dinner).
Day 3: Sunchupata – Choquequirao – Chiquisqa
Very early after breakfast we went to Choquequirao to appreciate the sunrise, visit the citadel for three hours , always accompanied by a guide who will explain about this important Inca refuge and the importance of the Apurimac and Rio Blanco rivers and also we can appreciate the Cordillera Vilcabamba , after the tour begin the return to Sunchupata and descend to Santa Rosa , then descend to the beach Rosalina , then we headed to the town of Chiquisqa here camp. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner).
Day 4: Chiquisqa – Capuliyoc – Cachora
After a hearty breakfast in Chiquisqa (06:00 AM) we return along the same path until step Capuliyoc and here are two hours to the town of Cachora this is a much softer stretch and we will be arriving 12:00 pm approx. , on the way we appreciate the exotic flora and fauna, as well as views of majestic snowcapped peaks and the impressive canyon of Apurimac. and then continue to Cusco . Arriving in the afternoon to the hotel.
